    St. Louis CITY SC was established in 2019 as an MLS expansion franchise, though the club didn't begin play until the 2023 season. They currently compete in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. CITY's inaugural campaign was historic—they became the first expansion team in any major North American professional sports league to win its conference in its debut season. The club's primary rivals are fellow MLS clubs Chicago Fire and Sportings Kansas, continuing St. Louis's longstanding soccer rivalries with those Midwestern markets. CITY plays their home games at Energizer Park, formerly known as CityPark, a soccer-specific stadium built in the Downtown West neighborhood of St. Louis.
