Josh
Sargent
Sargent was born and raised in O'Fallon, Missouri, and came up through St. Louis Scott Gallagher — where he spent roughly eight years developing in the youth ranks, often competing against older age groups. He enrolled at St. Dominic High School in O'Fallon, the same school that produced Tim Ream, before leaving in the middle of his sophomore year to join the U.S. Under-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Florida.
He went on to become one of the most precocious American strikers of his generation. At 17, he took the Silver Boot at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. He made his professional debut for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga at 18 — the same day he turned old enough to sign a professional contract. He spent four and a half years in England with Norwich City, finishing as one of the most productive strikers in the Championship. In early 2026, he moved to Toronto FC in one of the largest transfer deals in MLS history.
He is one of two St. Louis-area players to appear on the 2022 U.S. World Cup roster — the other being Tim Ream, a fellow St. Dominic alum.
